PERCEPTION CONFUSED – A Sphere about to Burst EP review

PERCEPTION CONFUSED – A Sphere about to Burst EP
Independent
It is really nice to have the chance to present a new band in the crowd and especially when it has something interesting to give to the metal audience. PERCEPTION CONFUSED are from Germany and they were created back in 2014. The musicians who are members of this band have previous experience with other projects they participated in, in the past and because of that in a short time they released their first work which I am about to present to you here.

Lyrically the band is inspired by modern social issues and more specifically by the influence that the Internet has upon the people. It is an influence that makes us lose connection with reality and communicate as real people. In my opinion this is an interesting topic and it is good to ponder on it.

Musically the band according to me moves on the path of traditional heavy/power metal which is mostly influenced by the U.S. and British metal scene. Keep in mind, though, that PERCEPTION CONFUSED don’t restrict their style in one specific sound, but they do blend in it influences from other metal genres. Also they give to their compositions a progressive structure that sometimes even flirts with jazz, but they do it not in a way to show off, but because it gives their songs a dramatic touch. I think that the fans of good old FATES WARNING, IRON MAIDEN, DREAM THEATER and even METALLICA will find this release very enjoyable.

Finally the band is very tight and performs all the compositions included here on a high and professional level and above all they seem to have the talent to create interesting and original songs. Also the voice of Daniel Treude fits very well to the whole sound, but in my opinion he has to work a bit on his high pitched singing. All in all it is an EP of a very talented new band that the fans of progressive heavy metal should check out.
