SHATTERHEART - Ground Turns to Dust

Independent

From the metal heartland of Gothenburg, Sweden, emerges Shatterheart, a brand-new symphonic/power metal band poised to make a significant impact. Formed in 2023, the band solidified its full lineup in the fall of 2024, bringing together a wealth of experience and fresh talent.

The band comprises Johan Bergman (guitars), the mastermind behind the musical compositions, Alicke Kostopoulou (vocals), Olle Bengtsson (drums), Jonathan Strand (bass), and Daniel Lyngsaa Larsson (keyboards). Bergman and Kostopoulou's collaborative efforts have already yielded a series of majestic songs, culminating in a 10-track debut album, expertly mixed and mastered by the legendary Studio Fredman, awaiting release.

Shatterheart has already offered a taste of their sound with their first single and music video, "A Shattered Heart." Additionally, they've released a teaser EP titled "Ground Turns To Dust”, which is currently available on all digital platforms. Fans can look forward to more visual content, as a new video for the song "Betrayal" was scheduled for production in late June 2025. While Shatterheart may be a new name, its members are far from novices, boasting extensive touring and performing experience across numerous countries and festivals.

The "Ground Turns To Dust" EP offers a compelling preview of Shatterheart's sound. Across its three tracks, the band delivers well-executed modern melodic power metal. The dynamic rhythm section provides a robust foundation, enhancing the powerful melodic lines. Their sound leans towards bands like Epica and early Nightwish, with a strong emphasis on heavy and power metal elements, rather than gothic influences. Alicke Kostopoulou's vocal performance is particularly noteworthy, delivering an emotional and dramatic punch that elevates the music. The EP serves as a strong indicator of Shatterheart's potential, leaving listeners eagerly anticipating their full-length debut.

With their blend of seasoned musicianship, powerful compositions, and a clear vision, Shatterheart is certainly a band to watch in the symphonic power metal scene.
