CONCRETE SWINE – Siberia Jam 74 EP review

CONCRETE SWINE – Siberia Jam 74 EP
Independent
What makes this music so special is a question that can take a lot of answers. In my opinion metal music is a great musical genre that has a lot variety for every taste, but above all it started as an experimentation of blues music (according to BLACK SABBATH) and I think that experimentation is a key element for the existence of this music. We might approve of these experimentations or we might not, but if you think clearly then you will see that all these experimentations lead us to the variety of genres in this music. CONCRETE SWINE from Finland is such a band and the interesting thing with them is that they try to combine musical styles of the past in order to create a contemporary and vivid sound.
THE COVER: Well, when on your title you include words like Siberia and 74, then it is obvious why on the cover of this release we can see a picture of a forest and the most interesting thing is that this photo looks like an old one that comes straight from the 70’s. There is more though to it. You can see two people next to a Lada jeep holding riffles and a dog. They look like hunters who by the way are targeted by someone else. I really like the cover because it makes you imagine about the picture on the cover and has this nice retro touch.
MUSICAL STYLE: I have presented previously all the releases of the band and I am glad to see or more accurately to listen to the fact that they have stayed faithful to the sound their serve and by each release all they do is try to expand it. CONCRETE SWINE is a band that experiments and combines many different styles which all have the same roots. In a few words their sound is a mixture of blues, hard rock and traditional heavy metal. This element gives them the ability to do whatever they want with their sound and doesn’t restrict them at all. So, the 4 new songs that you can listen to here are full of catchy melodies, grooves and a straight to your face attitude. I also liked the fact that in their new album the band next to their BLACK SABBATH influences have added also some IRON MAIDEN and N.W.O.B.H.M. touches which they form under their unique style. In my opinion this is what I call progress and CONCRETE SWINE have progressed here since they stay firm on their sound and yet expand it with new elements.
CONCLUSION: CONCRETE SWINE sound here more mature, confident and inspired than ever. They have created 4 compositions that the more you will listen to them the more you will enjoy them. I have lost count of how many times I have listened to this. I think that this is a release that you should check out, because it has a lot of great moments to offer musically to a listener.
