THE STORYTELLER – Sacred Fire review

 THE STORYTELLER – Sacred Fire
Black Lodge Records
We all love good stories and in the past days a good storyteller was much appreciated. Also if you take into consideration Homer or the bards then some of them also used music to tell their stories. In a way THE STORYTELLER continue this tradition since in their sixth official studio release they choose to tell us stories of heroes, gods and the glorious past days. I think this is the element that gives an epic metal touch to the sound of the band. The core, though, of their sound belongs to heavy/power metal and especially the European one. In their music you can recognize influences of such bands like RUNNING WILD, RIOT, BLIND GUARDIAN and even FALCONER when they decide to add in their compositions a medieval touch. “Sacred Fire” as an album gave me the impression that the band was really enjoying the whole creative process and they wanted through their music to pay tribute to the bands that have influenced them (which pretty much are the ones that I have mentioned above) without though losing their own personal touch. “Sacred Fire” is an album of heavy/power metal in a way that I like it, sincere, passionate, full of imagination and fresh. THE STORYTELLER have managed to use the clichés of the heavy/power metal we love in a way that makes this album highly enjoyable and one of the best releases of the band. Check them out and you won’t be disappointed…
