STRANGELET – First Bite review

 STRANGELET – First Bite
Independent
We all have witnessed the new trend in heavy metal scene where bands are trying to sound more old school than the original bands of the 70’s and 80’s. This is kind of cool and some bands have achieved to create good songs with that recipe, but yet most of them seem afraid to add their own personal touch or even show they are a contemporary band. I know that it is good to remember and honor your past and yet you have to add something of your own age if you want our music to go on. STRANGELET from Germany, although they are new and young of age they seem to have the maturity of well experienced musicians and also the enthusiasm that a band of their age should have. These guys seem to have delved in their influences and because of that they are trying to reinvent them or at least give them a modern and contemporary sound. This is not an easy task, but STRANGELET are more than capable to do so and the result is this enjoyable to listen to debut album. “First Bite” carries on the legacy of bands like IRON MAIDEN, RIOT, JUDAS PRIEST, URIAH HEEP, DEEP PURPLE and even BON JOVI with a new and vivid approach that makes all the compositions included here sound original. The band even experiments with some blues/rock elements which are obvious in the track under the title “Hell & Back”. “First Bite” is a strong bite that will stick into your mind forever. So, if you are into the hard rock and traditional metal sound, then you know that this is an album that you should check out…
