KILMARA - Love Songs and Other Nightmares review

KILMARA  - Love Songs and Other Nightmares
Sony Music Entertainment
I think that every artist needs in each of his/her works to express himself/herself in the best possible way and this motivates them to add new elements in their art or evolve elements that already existed in their previous works. I am writing that because I have listened to the previous album of KILMARA under the title “Don’t Fear the Wolf” and I think that the band in their new album have achieved a little bit of both. I mean they have evolved the elements of the sound they had in their previous release, but they have also added new elements to it. The new elements help to expand their sound variety and not alter the core of their music. In their previous release KILMARA sounded more traditional heavy/power metal and although the references to IRON MAIDEN are still here in their new album, I think that they also have some melodic thrash metal elements in the vein of good old MEGADETH. Besides that they have a modern approach in their sound production and some grooves that bring to mind Swedish melodic death metal bands. In a few words KILMARA have sustained their traditional heavy/power metal sound, but also modernized it a bit. The substance of it all is that KILMARA have managed to release an album that has variety and balances between melodies and heavy riffs. The friends of modern European heavy/power metal will enjoy this…
