SORROWS PATH – Doom Philosophy review

SORROWS PATH – Doom Philosophy
Iron Shield Records
Doom metal is in my opinion the darkest genre of heavy metal music. Since the days of CANDLEMASS it has introduced us to such subjects like loss, solitude and death. I know that these kinds of subjects are not easily accepted by any person, but the fact is that artists have always been inspired by them and most of the times manage to create something that we can talk about. SORROWS PATH in their sophomore album are inspired by such themes and I think that they do fit to their sound. In their second release SORROWS PATH continue to play their unique doom metal sound and also have evolved it by introducing new elements like gothic touches to some songs and sometimes they even flirt with progressive metal structures. They also manage to create an atmosphere that is dark, epic and sometimes full of despair. I can’t say that they have reminded me of any specific band as these guys have quite a unique sound, but we can say that they move somewhere between the epic path of CANDLEMASS and SOLITUDE AETURNUS and the melancholic darkness of MY DYING BRIDE. “Doom Philosophy” is a demanding release that you have to listen to very carefully, but believe me it will pay you back. Finally, let me tell you that in this album there are guest appearances of such musicians like Snowy Saw and Edgar Rivera. The fans of doom metal have to check them out…
*7.5/10
