ORDEN OGAN – Ravenhead review

 ORDEN OGAN – Ravenhead
AFM Records
We are used to saying that power metal sound is a genre where there is no space for innovation. This statement might be true for the biggest part of power metal bands (which is not bad as long as they release good albums), but there are also from time to time bands like ORDEN OGAN that bring a fresh air to the good old structures of the power metal sound. For those of you who still don’t know the band I can ask you to imagine BLIND GUARDIAN playing RUNNING WILD or vice versa and yet this description is quite simplistic, since the band has achieved to create their own musical identity which is easy to recognize. In their new album the band won’t disappoint you since they have included all these elements that made us love them so far and they do have a couple of new elements like some folk metal passages and melodic death metal parts mostly in the composition with the title “Here at the End of the World”. Also once again the band mixes their traditional power metal forms with a modern production which makes them sound aggressive and yet melodic. “Ravenhead” is a typical and enjoyable album from ORDEN OGAN, although it is a level inferior to their previous releases, but I think that the majority of their fans will love it.
