ROVDYR – From Nothing to No One review

ROVDYR – From Nothing to No One
Independent
RODVYR is the Norwegian word for “Predator” and as you can realize my friends this is a Norwegian band that I will present to you here. Now, if you judge them by their country of origin, by the fact that they paint their faces in black and white and sing about demons, pagan gods etc then you will get a big disappointment, at least some of you. I personally like the fact that from countries like Norway pop up bands that play different kinds of genres. ROVDYR is a hard to categorize band, because they mix up different styles of metal in their sound and they do it in a very creative way. The trademark of the band is of course the down tuned guitars and the groovy riffs. They also have some modern melodic death metal passages in their sound and they use both melodic clear and brutal vocals. I have to say that I am not an expert for the kind of sound that ROVDYR play, which by some might be categorized as modern metal, but I think that the band combines energy, aggressiveness and melodic parts and the whole album has variety and flows easily. In my opinion they are not the typical modern metal band, but they also try and in the biggest part succeed to create their own personal musical identity. The fans of modern metal should check them out because these guys have the talent and the ability to transform it in some good to listen to compositions.
