I don't consider this album "boring" at all, despite some critics' opinions. To me, it's a monumental work and an excellent follow-up to 'The Pagan Prosperity.' The improved music quality and production are evident, and I actually prefer the songs on this album over its predecessor. The vocals remain solid, blending seamlessly with the music. Galder's somewhat guttural style adds a unique charm that works well. His dedication to this project is apparent, and it makes me wonder if he could channel more of his talent here instead of focusing too much on Dimmu Borgir, which hasn't delivered a standout album since 'In Sorte Diaboli.'

Galder excels on all instruments in this album. Every track is a gem, even if some are on the lengthier side. However, the extended runtime is justified by the rich musical content. It's a testament to his legendary status in the genre. His vocals, characterized by a dark tone and decipherable screams, are equally praiseworthy. Musically, he has raised the bar with this release. It might even be one of his best in his discography. The music, production, sound quality, vocals, and overall effort are nothing short of brilliant. Galder's ability to craft music within the somewhat fading genre of melodic black metal is commendable. While 'Naglar' may excel in certain aspects, Old Man's Child takes the crown for me. They offer more than just speed.

This album is incredibly catchy, and every track is a winner. To give you a taste, standout songs include "Towards Eternity," "Demoniacal Possession," and "My Evil Revelations." These examples should give you a glimpse of the album's quality. Galder's songwriting prowess is particularly noteworthy, and he truly steps up his game here. The improved sound quality enhances the overall experience, making any criticism of this album as "boring" unwarranted. He excels in songwriting and musicianship, unquestionably dominating the genre.

If you haven't already, give those songs a listen, or explore the entire album. Despite being recorded about 25 years ago, it remains one of the best in its category. Galder may have dedicated a significant amount of time to Dimmu Borgir, but if Old Man's Child is still active, he should consider releasing a new album under this project's banner. Dimmu Borgir has been lacking stellar releases for a while, and Galder's talent on all instruments, not to mention his powerful vocals, deserves the spotlight here. He truly shines on this album, and I highly recommend giving it a listen!
