MILTOS MARATHON – 2 Match Review

MILTOS MARATHON – 2 Match

Independent

This might be the second release of MILTOS MARATHON band, but the compositions that are included here were amongst the first that Miltos has ever composed. The 9 songs that are included in this album were firstly included in the mid 90’s demo of Miltos entitled “Too Much Trouble for Nothing”. As Miltos states these songs are considered amongst the fans and friends of the band as classics.

Of course the compositions here have kept their basic structure, but Miltos also wanted to give them a fresh touch and of course add to them the experience that he has earned in musicianship through the years. So the songs still have the feeling of the enthusiasm of the band’s first work, but this time they are also supported by Miltos’ experience.

Musically now the album comes as a natural continuation of the debut release of the band entitled “Greek Fill”. Which means that you will listen here to some fine compositions inspired by the 70’s rock and hard rock with a strong touch of blues and of course some references to Greek rock music. I think that the song “You Don’t” which is one of my favorites in this album has lyrics that are based in the tradition of Pontus.

All in all “2 Match” is a fine rock release that continues to have a strong Greek feeling and although it is inspired from the 60’s and 70’s rock music, it has its own identity and sounds fresh and modern. Check this out…
