FOGALORD – Masters of War Review

FOGALORD – Masters of War
Limb Music
Epic symphonic power metal or else Hollywood metal, if you remember the term (though I would prefer the tag Cinecitta metal) is a genre to which Italy has offered some very good bands. However, as any successful genre, we had an overproduction of such bands from all over the word and somehow this caused its decline. Personally, I have reached to a point of avoiding listening to such bands, although I am a big fantasy fan. FOGALORD, though, with their debut that was released in 2012, caught my attention and made me realize that there are still musicians that can bring something fresh to the symphonic power metal sound.

The thing with FOGALORD that makes them differ from other bands of this genre is that they emphasize on the heavy and power metal elements of their sound which they blend with symphonic and folk elements. The keyboards play a major role, but they don’t dominate on the other instruments. Actually the use of keyboards gives this extra epic feeling that you can enjoy on epic movie soundtracks.

After 5 year from their debut album, FOGALORD continue from the point they left us and offer us symphonic epic power metal that carries influences from bands like RHAPSODY, MANOWAR, GAMMA RAY and BLIND GUARDIAN, but all these are given in a fresh and innovative way.

I don’t know if FOGALORD can reach out with their music to people who are not into symphonic metal, but I am sure that they won’t disappoint the people that liked their debut album and of course the diehard power metal fans.
