CONCORDEA – Over Wide Spaces Review

CONCORDEA – Over Wide Spaces
Independent
Russia really has a very interesting and worthy to mention metal scene. I think that the reason why its bands have not become so known abroad is mainly because of the use of the Russian lyrics by most of them and that they are interested mainly to spread their music inside their country. However, there are exceptions to that rule and there are bands like CONCORDEA that use the English language and are interested to spread their music all over the world.

“Over Wide Spaces” is the debut studio album of the band which musically moves on the path of melodic progressive power metal. The elements that characterize their sound are the melodies which are supported by a firm rhythm section. Actually CONCORDEA manage to keep a balance between the melodic and heavy elements of their music and also give to their compositions a slight progressive touch that makes their songs more interesting or unpredictable if you prefer. The performance by all musicians here is on high level and the dialogue between guitars and keyboards will offer you some very good moments to remember.

I can’t say that CONCORDEA remind me of any known band in specific, but their sound has many common elements with the Finnish metal scene and especially with bands like STRATOVARIUS. The fact though is that CONCORDEA with their music can create emotions of hope or nostalgia to the listener.

If the debut album says much about the talent and the possibilities of a new band, then CONCORDEA prove they can do a lot of things with the talent they have and the composing maturity they display here. The most important thing though is that a fan of melodic power metal will enjoy this album.
