ALESSIO SECONDINI MORELLI – Hyper – Urania Review

ALESSIO SECONDINI MORELLI – Hyper – Urania
Independent
The saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is very wise, although here we have to do with a CD. On the cover of the EP you can see Alessio holding his guitar and when I saw that my first thought was that I had to do with a release of a virtuoso rock guitarist who is displaying his skills, but it turned out to be something more interesting.

From the little research I did. I have discovered that Alessio is also the guitarist of the doom metal band ANNO MUNDI and this EP is his personal project that moves on the path of 80’s traditional heavy metal with a few hard rock elements.

In this release Alessio uses both male and female singers and this is an element that gives variety to his sound. Musically now the EP has, in my opinion, strong influences from the N.W.O.B.H.M. sound and also from the early JUDAS PRIEST era. You can also find some similarities to early CHASTAIN and QUEENSRYCHE albums.

The things that made me like this release are the memorable melodies, the steady rhythm section and the clean lead and solo guitar parts of Alessio who proves that he is both a good composer and guitar player.

In this album besides his own compositions you can also find a cover song of BLUE OYSTER CULT’s “Veteran of the Psychic Wars” on which 3 singers participate and make it really interesting.
I think that the fans of classic 80’s metal will enjoy this release and hope that soon we will have more to listen to from Alessio since he proves he has the skills and the feeling to deliver some fine heavy metal tunes.
