DEVIL DRONE - Erebo Review

DEVIL DRONE   - Erebo
Cave Canem D.I.Y
I’m going to start this presentation in an unorthodox way and will comment on the excellent packaging of this work. The digipack is superb, the artwork and everything around it indicates a professional release coming out of one of the big labels. Still DEVIL DRONE have released this on their own with the help of Cave Canem which is a Do It Yourself company. So, kudos guys on the kick ass work. The production is also noteworthy since it has the necessary volume and power while it still allows all the instruments to be equally heard.

Now, let’s move to the main part, the music itself. DEVIL DRONE is a new band from Italy – yes, Italy again and this proves what I’ve been saying about how strong its underground scene is- delivering high class and full of might death/thrash metal. I don’t have any more information on the band so I assume they are newcomers, but “Erebo” shows potential and a really tight band that knows how to deliver aggressive and intense thrash metal coated with a great deal of death metal elements. The vocals are harsh and brutal, they have a guttural hue and yet when the vocalist wants to highlight some more extreme parts of the music he even throws in some more high pitched growls. The rhythm section is solid and heavy and the guitars show a range with other times focusing mainly on delivering aggressive and brutal riffs, while other times they add some melodies to enhance the variety. Interesting thrash death metal work that the fans of the genre should check out!
