OBSCURA INSANIA – Sodoma Review

OBSCURA INSANIA – Sodoma
Sepulchral Silence
OBSCURA INSANIA is a new band in the metal world and especially in the studio releases, since “Sodoma” is their debut album. The band was formed in Venezuela and the musicians who participate here wanted to create a doom/stoner metal sound with lyrics written in the Spanish language.

Their debut album which was released in 2016 has the title “Sodoma” and of course it is the name of the city that the biblical god destroyed due to the sins of its residents. The title as the band says is a metaphor for the modern cities around the world and the life that people live. It is a way of life that brings destruction both to humans and nature. So, in a way we can say that the first studio album of OBSCURA INSANIA is a concept album based on a specific topic that has so many aspects.

The sound of the band as I mentioned above moves on the fields of doom metal and there are some modern down-tuned grooves that someone can claim to be closer in the modern stoner rock sound. No matter how someone describes it, the fact is that the sound of OBSCURA INSANIA is dark and fits perfectly to the concept of the album. I can’t also ignore how well bonded the band is and how experienced they sound, especially if you consider that this is their debut album.

I think that doom metal must sound dark and imposing and I think that OBSCURA INSANIA manage to do that very well.
