GOD IN A CONE – Agrypnia review

GOD IN A CONE – Agrypnia
Independent
GOD IN A CONE is a solo project of the musician Nikos Marinos (MADLEAF, IOLA 11, SLITHERUM) who here wants to experiment with different musical styles and sounds faithful to the truth that music has no boundaries. So, with my little knowledge I will try to give you a taste of what you will listen to in this work….

Agrypnia is a Greek word which literally means to be awake during the whole night, but also it refers to night rituals of the orthodox Christian church. I believe that Nikos had the second term in his mind, since music in a way can be ritualistic. If you listen to the album you will realize that the whole philosophy of the songs here is to create an atmosphere that will capture the mind of the listener.
Most of the times when we use the term atmosphere our mind goes to dark and pessimistic music, but GOD IN A CONE offer to the listener a variety of emotions and this makes the whole listening of the album an interesting experience.

Musically now the band manages to combine elements from electro and gothic rock along with pop music and even black metal elements. You might find all these strange and difficult to combine, but I think that a creative mind and also a talented musician can achieve that and I think that Nikos has both of these elements.
All in all “Agrypnia” is a very interesting release which I truly enjoyed and if you search for a different musical experience that knows no boundaries, then I would propose it to you….
