IL CASTELLO DI ATLANTE - Arx Atlantis review

IL CASTELLO DI ATLANTE - Arx Atlantis
Ænima Recordings
On my research for information about this band I have read the lines “The most long-living Italian progressive rock band…” and I thought that they might exaggerate a bit. However the story proves them true, since the band exists from 1974 and they have taken their name  (at least part of it) from a magician that appears in Ludovico Ariosto’s Romance epic ‘’L’ Orlando Furioso’’. So, here I will present to you their new effort which carries the title “Arx Atlantis”.

Since IL CASTELLO DI ATLANTE is a band that has lived in the 70’s it is logical that their music won’t get astray from that era. Actually I can describe them as a progressive rock band influenced from the 70’s sound. The band after all declares that is influenced by bands like GENESIS, YES, JETHRO TULL and some other bands of that era. Their sound is actually melodic and emotional. Their music is built around the keyboards and they also enrich it with the use of violin and of course the rock elements are strong in the whole duration of the album.

In my opinion the band managed to create an album that captures the fantasy of the listener and takes him/her to a journey in the world of music and fantasy. It is a beautiful work and I think that also the use of the Italian language makes it sound even more exotic. I think that people who are into 70’s progressive rock should check these guys out because they have the experience and yet the love and passion for rock music.
