Can someone be into old school music and still sound innovative or fresh? This is a question that all of us who deal with music have pondered upon. I know that the thing that matters most is to enjoy an album, but still the question pops up in our mind from time and time. Especially the last few years when we witness a new generation of metal bands that are influenced straight from the 80’s and the 70’s hard rock and heavy metal sound.

ALBUM from the U.S.A. has already released a full length album in 2009 and an EP in 2013 and “Majestic SilverEye” is their new effort. They are a band that doesn’t hide their influences and in specific their love for the 70’s hard rock and 80’s heavy metal sound. The thing though with these guys is that they don’t feel satisfied to just sound like the ones they admire. They really want to re-arrange their influences and build something that stands out and of course to be enjoyable for the listener.

Their new album I think has all these that ALBUM try to do and it is a very original release. I think that none of us has listened to the kind of music that ALBUM deliver (well if you insist I would say that they hold some similarities with BIBLE OF THE DEVIL). Here you will listen to a blend of hard rock, heavy metal and speed metal elements. There are a lot of references to such bands like THIN LIZZY and BLACK SABBATH, but that is not all. They even have some space rock elements like the space sounding keyboards in the opening track of this album entitled “Clash at Demonhead”. I also love the blues feeling that the band has in its solos. And if you think that all these are enough then just listen to the song “Heavy Mellow” which has a strong Jimi Hendrix vibe.

ALBUM is a band with a vision and above all with the ability to realize this vision. They have released one of the most original heavy metal albums that I have listened to lately and they prove that someone can play old school metal and still sound original.
