Six years have passed from the release of their debut album “Condamned” and I have not even noticed it. It is a release that every time I listen to sounds fresh and has something new to offer me. The reasons for the delay are the usual ones that you can witness in every band around the world and of course in Greece (line up changes, etc). The question that rises though is how the band sounds after 6 years of absence?

The answer to this question comes with the new EP of the band entitled “State to End All Terror”. I think that this is the right title since the words of it have been put in a circular way on the cover and if you start reading from the other word then you will get a different meaning. The essence of the album though is state and the first thing that we learn in the constitutional law in law school is that state means violence. So, VERDICT DENIED once again show that it is a band that doesn’t like just to entertain the listener but also to make him/her think.

The EP includes 6 songs from which the 4 are new tracks, 2 compositions that were included in their previous release, but here they sound slightly different (and I dare to say even better). The 4 new tracks now show that the band still moves on the technical thrash metal paths they have introduced us to with their debut release, but here VERDICT DENIED sound more mature and with even more substance. I mean they manage to sound technical and yet their songs have a more straight forward feeling. Also I like the fact that they have introduced in their sound some Greek folk or oriental music elements. Just check out the song “Redemption upon Him Lies” which for me is by far the best song that the band has created so far (and they do have a lot of good songs)     

The EP is a very good album from a band that I dare say deserves to be mentioned as one of the best in the thrash metal sound and I mean around the world and not only in Greece. The only thing that could be improved here I think is the sound production which is a bit weak, but the songs are so good that you almost ignore it.
