ENVENOMED – Evil Unseen review

 ENVENOMED – Evil Unseen
Punishment 18 Records
It seems that there in Australia they start to build a new heavy metal scene based on the traditional metal teachings. ENVENOMED are a band that released in 2014 their debut album entitled “Evil Unseen” as an independent release. It seems that the album earned some popularity and also its quality made Punishment 18 Records make a deal with these guys and re – release it. So, let me tell you my own impressions after listening to this album.
THE COVER: Do you like science fiction movies? Especially the ones that had to do with alien abductions and experimentations on human beings? Well, that is the impression that made on me the cover of ENVENOMED’s album. It shows a human being tied upon a laboratory table and many robotic machines examining him or trying to inject something into him. It also seems that the human on the table screams in agony.
MUSICAL STYLE: ENVENOMED, with their debut album, show us a musical identity that combines the traditional metal teachings along with strong modern metal elements without though losing their classic metal orientations. The band characterizes its sound as melodic thrash metal which actually is a quite accurate description since they combine thrash metal riffs and a rhythm section with melodic lines that have a strong traditional heavy/power metal feeling. I would also add that there are moments that ENVENOMED flirt with the Swedish melodic death metal sound without though having harsh vocals.
CONCLUSION: “Evil Unseen” is an album made by a band that has a musical vision and knows exactly how to make this vision functional. It is an album that has variety, good ideas and an obvious creative enthusiasm. I think that people who are into modern melodic thrash metal have to check this out.
