RUTHLESS – They Rise review

RUTHLESS – They Rise
Pure Steel Records
The first time I listened to this band was in a compilation that the Greek Metal Hammer has released and it was the song “Hardcore” which is a great composition. Since then I have listened to all the releases of RUTHLESS. In the 80’s I believe that they were one of the bands that deserved more, but due to certain circumstances they only achieved to have a cult status in the underground metal scene. It seems though that we live in the days that the 80’s metal sound is back for good and many of these great bands like RUTHLESS take the second chance they deserve. “They Rise” is their new album and I am happy to say that the band has kept the essence of its sound intact and the only contemporary element is their sound production. The compositions are of course fresh and well balanced between the melodic lines and the heavy riffs. RUTHLESS are a 100% U.S. power/thrash metal band and I think that their sound is close to such groups like METAL CHURCH, VICIOUS RUMORS and ICED EARTH. So, if you are into this kind of sound (I certainly am) then you will enjoy their new album. Actually this is a release that will satisfy the old fans of the band and also can attract the interest of new ones. This is a well done album that keeps its promises.
