OSSONOR – Dreadful EP

Symphonic metal for most of us is connected to bands like RHAPSODY when it has to do with epic stories and NIGHTWISH when it is more emotional. It seems that things are not exactly as I have described above for OSSONOR who come with their new EP to shake the still waters of symphonic metal. Their common ground with the other bands of this genre is that they use operatic female voices and keyboards, but they do it in an epic and darker way. Their music makes you think that it can be used in a dark and also epic gothic movie. The band has down tuned their guitars and this gives them more volume and makes their sound aggressive and heavy. The keyboards also build a tension and some times give an epic touch to the sound of OSSONOR while other times the offer a menacing atmosphere. The female vocals on the other hand give melody to their sound and this might seem a bit controversial but fit perfectly to their whole music. OSSONOR finally also have some aggressive male vocals that build a dialogue with the female vocals. I think that OSSONOR are quite original for the kind of music they play (symphonic metal) and the only comparison I can make with other known bands are DIMMU BORGIR and HAGGARD. They surely deserve your attention…
