BURN THE OCEAN – Come Clean review

BURN THE OCEAN – Come Clean
Sliptrick Records
By seeing the cover of the new album of BURN THE OCEAN I was given the impression that the band has ecological concerns. Specifically we see on the cover three smokestacks, of which one is active and emits smoke that pollutes the blue sky. It is impressive that such a simple picture makes you think of such important things.

The musical style of the band moves between the rock and hard rock sound. They have clear references to 70's forms of hard rock and specifically through their music has references to bands like LED ZEPPELIN (they have also a cover of this band, it is the song "Blackdog"). Also their sound has many grooves that you find in bands like the great BLACK SABBATH, but generally is characteristic of the so-called stoner rock bands. In short I would say that the band’s music could be described as heavy / stoner rock.

The good thing with BURN THE OCEAN is that draw inspiration from the past, but they create their own modern sound. The downside for me is that the album, although pleasant, lacks in songs that will make me stick with.

Regardless the taste of each one of us, BURN THE OCEAN have interesting things to give and it is very likely that the friends of this genre will find something interesting here.
