Distorted Force is a highly active band hailing from Thessaloniki, Greece, boasting an impressive discography since their inception in 2010, including one demo, two EPs, and four full-length albums. I first encountered their debut demo CD years ago and was immediately struck by the exceptional musicianship and superb compositions showcased by the five-member ensemble.

Recently, I had the pleasure of acquiring their latest album, 'Angelic Bloodshed,' and upon spinning the compact disc, I found myself transported back to the mid-90s, a time marked by the global surge of progressive metal bands. However, Distorted Force distinguishes itself from the pack; they are not merely another iteration of Dream Theater, Fates Warning, or Queensrÿche imitators. In my opinion, Distorted Force embodies the spirit of Vauxdvihl for our contemporary era, much like how 'Angelic Bloodshed' evoked the same feelings I experienced when listening to 'Dimension Logic.'

Let me clarify my excitement—Distorted Force boasts a distinctive lineup featuring clean vocals, brutal growls, and ethereal female vocals interspersed throughout their compositions. 'Angelic Bloodshed' comprises eight tracks characterized by outstanding guitar work, evoking a sci-fi ambiance at times, with both atmospheric and forceful passages. The rhythm section remains tight, complemented by stellar keyboard arrangements.

This album doesn't rely on excessive guitar solos or bombastic displays; instead, everything is meticulously arranged and executed with precision. The vocals are atmospheric, powerful, and symphonic, adding depth to the progressive metal backdrop.

If you're seeking a refreshing take on progressive metal and yearn for a unique addition to your CD collection, I highly recommend experiencing the captivating soundscapes crafted by Distorted Force.
