ANTIGOD ARE BACK! ENTERING A NEW ERA WITH A NEW ALBUM MESSTERY!

After calm comes the storm. Such could be said about the new full-length Messtery of the Czech outfit Antigod, which shall be released January 30. After a short break, the band returns in a new line-up with the vocalist Martin Turek, with a new energy and with 13 blasts that thrash and destroy with the intensity the fans are used to from the previous albums. This thrash/death metal warmachine simply cannot be stopped!

Messetry should be viewed as an entry point into the next epoch of Antigod. The previous one concluded in 2021 with the departure of the previous vocalist Chymus from the band. "It is as if certain doors were closed and locked by that, and the previous years remained behind them. Not that they were lost for good, rather stashed away and secured so that it is not necessary to revisit them," says the guitarist Pedy, adding that Antigod approached the writing of the new album in this exact fashion. Simply put, they opened new doors. "Composing and selecting which music to use, writing lyrics, making album art, recording, all that was done differently than what we were used to. Some changes were planned, some arose from various circumstances, while others came unexpectedly and it was necessary to improvise."

The changes that took place in 2021 are in a way symbolic, since it was then that Antigod celebrated their 10th anniversary. "Over the years, a lot has happened as far as the band is concerned - loads of gigs, several albums, but also several notable changes in the line-up. That said, when I look back, they were successful years overall. We always managed to face what befell us," says Pedy. "Maybe the new will not be, in comparison, that long or that successful, but we are still here and still doing what we enjoy. And that is more or less how we perceive the new album Messtery and all the things related."

What remained intact is the band's cooperation with MetalGate Records, which released the previous two albums. "Our communication is on the spot and what is agreed upon gets done. Of course, I approached other labels as well, but not because we would intend to leave MetalGate, rather to get an idea how things work elsewhere. So far, we have always had a deal for one album only. So, when in two or three years later you start preparing a new full-length, you do not know that your current label is still interested. It is thus better to have fallback positions ready," says Pedy.

Messtery is to be released in CD digipack format and its release show is to happen already in early February on the home turf in Ostrava.
