1. Hello and happy New Year. As we
are in the start of 2020, I would like to tell us if you have any plans for
this year or you leave things in chance?
Dr. Frankenshred: Hello Thank You Happy New Year...Yes
To release as much music as I can… and play as much guitar as possible lol
2.
“Electric Axe Attack” comes 10 years after your previous album “Cauldron
Of Evil”. Why did it get you so long?
Dr. Frankenshred: Well Unfortunately that line up
disbanded not long after the Cauldron of Evil release.. Since then I have had
reissues of the 2 Frankenshred instrumental releases [Self-Titled and Evil
Shred] with bonus tracks in 2012, 2013.....
By 2015 I had the current Frankenshred lineup together that's on
Electric Axe Attack.
In 2016 I started working with
Exiled for the 2018 “Ghost in the Winter” release on Killer Metal
Records...which led to signing Frankenshred to Killer Metal Records
Also in 2019 I had a reissue of an
instrumental release I had on David T. Chastains Diginet/Leviathan Records
label called The Guitar Masters series Frankenshred-Revenge
3. One other thing that I have noticed
is that in your new release you have a constant line – up and not
participations like your previews release. How did this work for you? How did
you find your new band members and did they have any past experience with other
bands?
Dr. Frankenshred: Yes the current Frankenshred line up
I think sounds the best...works and gets along well...have the same goals … And
we have fun doing it.
4. How long did it get you to
compose and produce “Electric Axe Attack”? Which were the biggest obstacles
that you had to surpass?
Dr. Frankenshred: Well I’m always writing songs but
yes had plenty of songs piled up...The hardest part was finding the right guys
for the band and the right record label behind them.
We are already starting to record a
follow up release...
5. From the 12 compositions that you
have included in your new album which one was the easiest to complete and which
one the most difficult and why?
Dr. Frankenshred: Lol well sometimes the songs you
think are easy turn out to be the hardest.
I enjoy writing both simple and more
complicated arrangements
So you got a more straight forward
metal song like Nothing to Lose and a more complex one like the title track
Electric Axe Attack.
6. You are also member of bands like
EXILED and COMMADMENT. So, how do you choose which ideas or compositions will
fit to the above mentioned bands and which ones to your personal project?
Dr. Frankenshred: In Exiled the vocalist John Cason is
the lyricist ..so it’s my job to supply an unlimited supply of riff to write
to...He picks the ones he likes and the band works the song out.
The drummer in Commandment is also
the lyricist so its a similar process
7. What kind of response you would
like to get for “Electric Axe Attack” from the metal fans worldwide that will
make you happy and think that you have achieved your purpose with this release?
Dr. Frankenshred: Well of course you want everyone to
like it ...but you can’t please everyone;;
I would say this release is the
first release of many more to come to be considered the classic Frankenshred
lineup.
8. So far from the reviews that you
have received for your new album which is the common ground that you find in
them? Is there a review that put you in thoughts and for which reason?
Dr. Frankenshred: So far it’s been positive....We are happy about that...Of course
Im going to get the self indulgent over playing comments but Im ok with
that...probably true anyhow.lol
9. You are many years in the heavy
metal music. So, all these years which is the most important thing that you
like from this music? Have you ever thought that you deserved more
opportunities and acknowledgement that you have already received?
Dr. Frankenshred: For me I just loved to play guitar
and want to play in a band....Ill still do that no matter what level of success
I achieve.
10. I would like to thank you for
answering my questions. Hope to see you for a live show here in Greece. Please
add the epilogue you like to this interview….
Dr. Frankenshred: Yes would love to play Greece...Well
new Frankenshred Exiled and Commandment releases in 2020...Yes I’m busy...Also
Check out all the other great bands on Killer Metal Records Thanks again
