ELVENSTORM – The Conjuring Review

ELVENSTORM – The Conjuring

Massacre Records

ELVENSTORM from France were born in 2008. In 2011 they introduced themselves to us with their debut album entitled “Of Rage and War” through Inferno Records. Three years later they released their sophomore album entitled “Blood Leads to Glory” and in 2015 the EP “Soulreaper”. All the above mentioned albums were released from Inferno Records and the quality of them led LONEWOLF to add Michaël Hellström as their new guitarist. “The Conjuring” is the band’s 4th release, their third full length album and their first to be released through Massacre Records on July 13th.

I have followed the band’s efforts from their debut album up to now and I was really interested to see how they will sound on their new release. After listening to the new album I can surely say that the album will not disappoint the band’s friends and all of you that love the Teutonic metal sound. I think that this album only differs with their previous releases to the point that it sounds a bit more aggressive and darker.

The new album finds the band in a very good form and also with nice ideas. The compositions are mostly fast, aggressive and yet melodic. In my opinion the band’s sound is close to known groups like RUNNING WILD, GRAVE DIGGER, STORMWARRIOR and LONEWOLF. Besides the German metal elements you can also find influences from groups like JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN and I can’t explain why but they brought to my mind ROCKA ROLLAS. Don’t get me wrong. All these elements have influenced the band, but are filtered through its own style. Finally Laura does a great job on the vocals because she sings with passion every word and makes the compositions even more expressive.

“The Conjuring” is an album that continues the good work that the band has done with its previous releases and offers a lot of good moments to the fan of the heavy/power metal sound.
