In order to understand the band you have to know a few things about the person behind it. Sergio Casamassima is a guitarist from Italy and he was born in family of musicians. In the age of 14 he started his studies on acoustic guitar and after 4 years he began in depth modern studies on electric and acoustic guitar. Besides his in depth studies Segio was and is a restless spirit and he demonstrates his talent in various projects and bands. The most recent one which is his solo work is the band under the name SIRJOE PROJECT which I think is a play of his name (SERGIO = SIRJOE).

“Letze Baum” reflects the restless spirit of Sergio and also shows us that he is a person that cares about social problems. Actually this album is a concept and deals with the destruction of nature that is brought by human greed. Musically now this release transcends all genres and yet sounds so tight and solid. In a few words I can say that SIRJOE PROJECT belongs to the progressive rock and metal genre, but these tags don’t restrict the creativity of Sergio because he enriches his sound with industrial style loops, keyboards in World Music/New Age style and the thing I liked the most is the use of ethnic voices that come from Africa and American Indians I think. The impressive part is that Sergio uses all these elements in a way that serve the story of the album and this makes the whole experience impressive and makes you feel like you are watching a movie.

“Letze Baum” is a very good release and I think it can offer a lot of good moments to the listeners. It is a work that is excellent on the technical aspect, but also is full of heart and passion and offers a variety of emotions and images to the listener. Good job indeed.
