FOLKODIA - Battle of the Milvian Bridge Review

FOLKODIA - Battle of the Milvian Bridge

Stygian Crypt Productions

The man who inspired this band also known as FOLKEARTH exists no more as Ruslanas Danisevskis from Lithuania died on June 30th 2013 and I really hope he left this world for a better one.

“Battle of the Milvian Bridge” is an emotional album, since Ruslanas’ vocals are here too.  Have in mind that it is a release that comes 4 years after the previous album of the band which was in 2013.

Anyway there might be a considerable time gap between the previous release and this one of FOLKODIA, but their music hasn’t changed a bit. They are still playing metal that mixes elements of heavy/power metal with some extreme metal touches too and of course the folk melodies are dominating on the whole album. Personally speaking I can say that the band musically is close to groups like TURISAS, SKYCLAD and when it comes to traditional metal there are times they reminded me of RUNNING WILD like on the song “Sigillum Militum Xpisti” which is my favorite one.

On the lyrical aspect once again the band has done a great job since they are inspired by great moments of the ancient and medieval history and the way that they are written motivates you to search more about these aspects.

As you know the band is consisted of musicians from many different countries around the world and still they sound very bonded and have managed to release a heavy and yet melodic album that is rock solid from the first till the last second.

So if you are a fan of the band or of the folk metal genre and you like to listen about stories not so known about the ancient and medieval history, then FOLKODIA do a great job here.
