ICED EARTH for my generation is a band that has marked us with their music and we consider them as one of the leaders of the heavy/thrash metal sound. Some really good musicians have passed from this band through the years and one of them was the vocalist John Greely who was the singer of ICED EARTH in their masterpiece album entitled “Night of the Stormrider” which is an album that I listen to fanatically until now. So, I was more than surprised and felt enthusiastic when my sister brought me to listen to his new band under the name SEVENTH SERVANT.

If I ask you to judge the musical style of the band only by its name, then I am sure that most of you will think that we have to do with an extreme metal band. So I did too. However, our guess is not totally wrong since the band from Bergamo, Italy started as symphonic black metal and actually this is the kind of music they play in their debut release in 1999 entitled “Sins of Eden”. In 2005, however, the band decided to change its sound to something less extreme and more melodic and the result of this change and of course their progress is their 4^th studio album entitled “A Bad Mess”.

You see one of the reasons that I like metal music is because it attracts some really crazy guys (in a positive way crazy) like Frank who have an overdeveloped imagination and a really great sense of humor.  Frank for the last 30 years expresses his imagination through different kinds of forms like poetry, directing and acting 3D animation, movie scripts and of course music. So, having this long time experience he wanted to create an epic trilogy whose purpose is to entertain you and make you laugh.

The history of SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION from Greece goes way back. They started back in 2002 and in 2006 and 2008 they released their first two demos. Actually I had the chance to present both of the above mentioned releases in the new founded then BEHIND THE VEIL WEBZINE (sometimes I feel that time passes really fast). The band had impressed me back then with its simple structured and yet straight forward melodic heavy metal sound which reminded me the era of N.W.O.B.H.M. (yep this band was playing this kind of music way before becoming a trend). Imagine that the song “Lonely and Tired” is still one of my favorites which was released back in 2006 and I listen to it often up to now.

Η λογοτεχνία του φανταστικού και της επιστημονικής φαντασίας στην Ελλάδα ουδέποτε αντιμετωπίστηκε με τη σοβαρότητα που της αρμόζει. Αυτό οφείλεται σε ένα μεγάλο μέρος και στους υπεύθυνους των εκδοτικών οίκων αλλά και τους εμπόρους βιβλίων, οι οποίοι την αντιμετώπιζαν ως μια μορφή φτηνής λογοτεχνίας ή στην καλύτερη ως λογοτεχνία ξεκομμένη από την πραγματικότητα κι επομένως άνευ ουσίας. Ξεχνούν βέβαια ότι τα πρώτα μας μαθήματα ως άνθρωποι τα μαθαίνουμε από τα παραμύθια και τις παραβολές.

ΠΑΡΟΥΣΙΑΣΗ ΝΕΟΥ ΔΙΣΚΟΥ CRYSTAL TEARS
