JMP – Jam Movie Project Review

JMP – Jam Movie Project

Qua’ Rock Records

Jamming in music is something that helps musicians to improvise and expand their imagination and creativity. JMP started as their name stated as a jam project of the guitarist Gabriele Bellini and the opera singer Claire Briant Nesti back in 2014. A little later the drummer Michel Agostini joined the project and with this line up JMP released this debut album.

From the beginning their target was to transform music made for famous movies into rock/metal songs. So, in this first release you will have the chance to listen to the rock/metal version of movie soundtracks that we loved. I will mention some of them because I don’t want to spoil the joy of discovering the compositions on your own. So there are amongst others covers of the “Saw” movie soundtrack, the theme of “Sin City” and “The Matrix” and also soundtracks of movies like the “Last of the Mohicans”, “Highlander”, “Game of Thrones” and many more…

Gabrielle does a very good work as the virtuoso guitarist he is and gives to the compositions his own interpretation and makes others sound darker or more aggressive and melodic. Claire’s vocals also play a big role on the compositions since they give to them a theatrical and dramatic touch and of course Michel Agostini provides an accurate and solid rhythm section upon which Gabrielle and Claire display their talent.

I don’t know if you are a fan of soundtracks or symphonic music, but JMP’s versions of the famous movie soundtracks are crafted in such a way that will catch the interest of every rock/metal fan. The only thing I would like to listen from JMP in the future is covers of soundtracks from famous Cinecitta movies (yes my friends Italy has a great cinema tradition too).
