ARTEMISIA – Rito Apotropaico Review

ARTEMISIA – Rito Apotropaico
Onde Roar Records
ARTEMISIA from Italy is a band that I have already presented to you here. It is an interesting band that through its music tries to create a melancholic and dark atmosphere without though their music lacking in melody. “Rito Apotropaico” is their new effort and let me tell you a few things about it.

Actually the band moves musically on the same path with their previous release and someone can easily describe it as gothic metal with lots of doom metal elements. The compositions that are included here move on mid tempos and even doom paces, but they also have melodies. The whole album is ruled by melancholic feelings and the use of female vocals adds to this atmosphere and actually gives to the release a dramatic touch. The lyrics are once again written in the Italian language and from the few things I know they have a dark romantic orientation talking about life, lost dreams and other philosophical themes.

“Rito Apotropaico” is a nice release and an album that will definitely be enjoyed by people who are into the gothic/doom metal sound and like bands and artists like LIV KRISTINE and MY DYING BRIDE (well, a more melodic version of them). Finally the cover art of the album is very beautiful and though it is modern it has strong references to the Indian and ancient Egyptian tradition.
