ACID DEATH is one of
the most legendary hard working bands in the death thrash metal genre since the
90’s.
The “Balance of Power”
mini album was supposed to be released 25 years ago and now is a good chance
for all collectors to get it on a nice vinyl edition or tape by Floga Records.
This is great death
metal with thrash elements indeed, 7 high energy anthems full of passion and a
sound right to the point.
This stuff brings
vibes close to SLAYER, TESTAMENT (because of the melodic guitar riffs and
solos), early SEPULTURA (because of the maniac yet precise rhythm section).
The compositions are
based on headbanging guitar riffs with short breaks of bombastic bridges, the
production is decent yet raw, they have the prima sound with which you can
identify all the instruments in action and let’s not forget this was supposed
to be the band’s debut release.
Of course there is a
proper mastering of the sound for the vinyl edition, which will give the sound
and album a proper boost. My personal favorite is “Civil War” whose drumming
tone gives real meaning to the song title.
ACID DEATH is a great
example of a dedicated band with faith in quality death thrash metal and if you
respect this sound then you got to place it on your vinyl or tape collection.
