VICOLO INFERNO – Stray Ideals Review

VICOLO INFERNO – Stray Ideals

Do you like spaghetti western? I think most of us do. We all know they were films made in Italy, but they seemed more American than the original American movies and because of that most of us love them. I really do appreciate this talent that the Italians had to get foreign influence and adapt it in their own culture.

You might ask why this introduction in the review of VICOLO INFERNO album? It is because their music has the same analogy with the above mentioned films. Let me be clearer. Their sound is easy to be described as hard rock with few heavy metal elements. It is obvious that the band has also a deep bluesy background and of course you can also find a strong southern rock feel along with some heavy grooves which remind me a bit of early BLACK SABBATH. It is obvious from the description of their sound that the band is heavily influenced by the U.S. rock scene and I am sure that someone will find similarities to musicians like Zakk Wylde, MOLLY HATCHET and LYNRYD SKYNDRYD. The band though manages to filter these influences through its own personality and create something original.

The sound of “Stray Ideals” might not be my cup of tea, but it is an album well worked and performed and above all it offers a variety of sounds and emotions to the listener. I think that people who are into the southern/blues hard rock sound will enjoy this release a lot.
