There is no reason to rush things or work under pressure… I think this can be the philosophy of this band. The foundations of the band IVORY were set between 98/99 and in 2005 they recorded their first promo CD under the title “Atlantis Fall” inspired by mythology (which in a way reminds me of the Greek band NORTHWIND). In 2008 the band released its debut album entitled “Time of Revenge” and now 8 years later with a new singer (Roby Bruccoleri (ex PROJECTO)) and drummer Claudio Rostagno they strike back with their sophomore album.

I haven’t listened to their previous works, so I can’t make any comparisons, but I can say that the band sounds very bonded and mature in their new release. They use their skills in a way that serve the compositions and don’t sacrifice the essence in order to show off. Also the band shows a good sense of melody which is supported by a steady and solid rhythm section. The leads and solos which sometimes have a bluesy touch also give a character and depth to the compositions. Finally, the production is really good and I mean that it gives to the album a modern dynamic sound and also space to listen to all the instruments.

The band musically moves on paths of melodic hard rock and rock mostly inspired by the 70’s. I think that everyone can find references to great bands and musicians like DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, JIMI HENDRIX, LYNRYD SKYNRYD and there are also a few times that IVORY touch the heavy metal sound and reminded me of IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST (but this is a matter of opinion I think). 

  

All in all IVORY managed to release an album that sounds fresh and has compositions that prove the maturity of the band and yet the enthusiasm they have for the sound. I think that they are a very good choice for someone that wants to listen to modern melodic hard rock inspired by the 70’s sound.
