THUNDERSPELL – Battle Scream review

 THUNDERSPELL – Battle Scream
Independent
In the 80’s we had OMEN singing their “Battle Cry” and now in the same continent though in the south we have THUNDERSPELL from Brazil singing their “Battle Scream” in their debut release. It is not though the only similarity between THUNDERPSPELL and OMEN as you will find in the next lines presenting to you their first studio album.

We, the people who listen to traditional heavy metal, enjoy listening to songs about epic metal battles and in general stories that awaken our imagination. THUNDERSPELL faithful to this tradition in their debut album sing for such things and of course for the love we all share for the heavy metal sound.
Musically the band is fully inspired by the U.S. 80’s metal and especially by the more aggressive bands of this genre. Let me explain this to you. The sound of THUNDERSPELL is a mix of raw speed metal as it was formed in the 80’s along with melodies that are descendants of the IRON MAIDEN tradition. Personally speaking I would say that the band is musically close to such colossus like HELSTAR (to this comparison also helps the way that Leonardo Rodrigues sings), SAVAGE GRACE, ABATTOIR and of course OMEN.
The raw and yet clear production of the album gives to it an 80’s metal feeling which comes out very naturally and I think it was kind of unintended.
All in all the fans of 80’s U.S. metal and especially those who love bands like the ones mentioned above should check THUNDERSPELL out and I am sure they will find them very enjoyable.
