REGICIDE – Fall of an Empire review

REGICIDE – Fall of an Empire
Independent
Regicide is a word that sounds good to my ears and it is a name that fits to a speed/thrash metal band. The meaning of the word means killing a king and I think that in a way it also explains why the band chose to name its debut album “Fall of an Empire”.

In a debut release I personally expect to listen to a band with a certain enthusiasm and of course some good ideas transformed into good songs. Also the playing skills and how tight the band is are important. From what I listen to “Fall of an Empire” I am convinced that REGICIDE have true passion for metal and manage to transmit this to the listener. Musically now their sound moves on a path between speed and thrash metal blended with a few punk and traditional elements. There are times that they sound like early SLAYER, METALLICA and others like EXCITER. Personally speaking I think that REGICIDE also have some elements from the German scene and most specifically some early RUNNING WILD and DESTRUCTION elements. Finally all the guys sound well skilled and REGICIDE is a well bonded band.
“Fall of an Empire” might be a typical sounding speed/thrash metal album, but this is not bad since it has good moments and shows a band that can do a lot more in the near future.
