PERSONA – Elusive Reflections

music is a global phenomenon that never stopped to expand all over the world.
Even recently I have found bands that come from places of the world we’ve never
imagined that have a metal scene. For example PERSONA come from Tunis, they
were formed in 2012 and “Elusive Reflections” is their debut album.
The
band definitely belongs to the female fronted symphonic metal genre (though the
singer is not the only female musician in the band). This means that PERSONA
combine in their sound elements of metal, some rock and of course the keyboards
that have equal importance as the guitars. The way this band differs from many
others of this genre is that their melodic lines are supported by a heavy
rhythm section that sometimes flirts with modern melodic thrash metal. I want
to say that these guys are not only melody based, but they keep a good balance
between the melodic and heavy parts of their music.
In
their sound now, besides the symphonic metal elements you can find that they
also blend oriental music elements (probably inspired by the traditional music
of their country), but they do also have some modern metal elements and lots of
grooves. Finally I want to say that the voice of their singer Jelena Dobric
reminded me a bit of Liv Kristine.
The
production of the release moves on professional levels, it is dynamic and yet
clean and it serves the musical style of the band.
PERSONA
play modern symphonic metal and they don’t fear to sound heavy too. With their
debut album they show that they are a band with good ideas, talent and above
all they have real passion for what they do. I think that people who are into
this kind of music should check this very promising band from Tunis out.
