Mattia Gosetti is a musician that I have already introduced to you with his other band SIRGAUS where they were playing symphonic gothic metal with some gothic rock elements too. It seems though that Mattia has a creative anxiety that can’t be fulfilled in only one band and because of that he proceeded in the formation of a solo project that has his own name. It is a bold endeavor I have to say, but also introduces to us a man and more specifically an artist with a vision…

THE COVER: The cover really made me feel like I was watching a painting of a village that you can find both in Greece and in Italy. On the background you can see a village up on a mountain side with its church and houses. In front of this scenic landscape you can see a caped person with a covered face and holding a knife. It could easily be an outlaw cowboy from a spaghetti western film (the best western films according to me). Based on the few words I know, I think that this person is one of the main characters in the concept story of the album.

MUSICAL STYLE: In SIRGAUS the symphonic element was strong and this is something that dominates the music of this project too. Mattia creates an album that belongs to the symphonic rock genre and also has some pomp rock elements. The whole album has this cinematographic feeling which makes you think that you are watching a film. The varieties of songs which don’t ruin the consistency of the whole album help the musician to narrate his story. Even the use of Italian language gives to the whole album an extra atmosphere.

CONCLUSION: This is a demanding release; you must give it sometime in order to fully understand it. On the other hand the songs are melodic and the mixing of the rock and symphonic elements is well balanced. It is a release that can attract the interest of both new rock fans and of course the people who love 70’s rock music. It would be nice though for the listener who doesn’t know the Italian language to include a note in the CD case that can give us a few hints of the concept story of the album. I think that this would help people to comprehend this album even better.
