CHRISTFUCK – Hellgoat Militia review

 CHRISTFUCK – Hellgoat Militia
Mercyful Hell Prods / Hellraiser Producciones
It’s a given fact that the Greek metal scene has improved immensely this last decade and it gives birth to quality bands that can easily compete with foreign, even famous acts. In the past the Greek scene was dominated by extreme metal bands… nowadays we see groups from all metal genres, but still the extreme metal scene is prevailing over everything else.

Well, I don’t think you need specific references or hints as to what kind of metal a band with a moniker like that delivers… “Hellgoat Militia” is a four track EP offered to us by the band to get a taste of what’s in store for us and let me tell you what I heard made me feel really psyched! CHRISTFUCK serve a cross between old school black and thrash metal, it’s what we also call retro black metal; it’s a style I really love and the band has done an exceptional job leaving us asking for more. Now, something few, if any, will realize from the beginning is that the vocals are handled by a female, Hel Pyre, who also plays the bass… No worries! Like I said few will realize she’s a female, her screams and growls are so good that many men would envy her! She does a superb job and elevates the compositions which are powerful, have volume and might; they are aggressive and blasphemous to the core and therefore ideal for relentless headbanging. The production is also good and old school sounding and the guys have offered us one more treat… besides their own three compositions they’ve included a cover of ROTTING CHRIST’s “Exiled Archangels” which they performed very well. Not much else to say other than the fact that I can’t wait to listen to their full length!
