FAKE HEALER – Two Worlds review

 FAKE HEALER – Two Worlds
Independent
This is the debut album of a new band formed by very experienced and skillful musicians. FAKE HEALER are from Italy and were formed in 2014. Most of the members are known to me from their works with their previous bands; Bands such as the progsters JUGLANS REGIA and the metallers FROZEN TEARS (a band that every JUDAS PRIEST fan out there should check out). All these made me really happy and anxious to listen to the sound of their new band and so I’ll try to describe it to you through words.

THE COVER: On the cover you can see a scuttle that could be from a spaceship or from a building made by metal and cables and through it you can see beautiful scenery of trees, a river and a setting sun.  Also you can notice a root of tree that has passed through the scuttle. This is the kind of cover I like not only because it is beautiful, but because it leaves a lot to the imagination of the viewer. Also in a way it depicts two different worlds, the natural and the technological one.
MUSICAL STYLE: The band moves on the traditional heavy metal sound. Some people describe them also as a power metal group, but personally I didn’t find such elements. Actually in the sound of FAKE HEALER you can find entwined influences from bands such as IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and the N.W.O.B.H.M. sound in general. All these elements are combined to create a solid sound that carries the personality of the band’s musicians. I do like the bands that take their influences and form them in their own personal way (what’s the point to just copy big names of the past?). The compositions that are included here are well balanced between melody and heavy riffs. Also the performance of Alessio Taiti (singer) is very expressive and to some points dramatic. In general, I can say that it is a very well worked album and an inspired one. Finally the production is clear and dynamic and allows you to listen to all of the instruments.
CONCLUSION: “Two Worlds” is an album that you will enjoy from the first listening, but the power of it is that the more you will listen to it the more you’ll find things to like. It is a quality release of traditional heavy metal that deserves your attention.
