CONCRETE SWINE Interview 2013

 Genre: Hard Rock/Blues Metal

1. Hello! You are back with a new E.P. entitled “Brezhnev's Cocktail”. How do you feel about it? Which are your expectations from it?

Hey, what’s up? Well, we hope that the new stuff is better and we can get more people to listen our music. We have realistic expectations and we don’t have big rock star dreams or stupid shit like that.

2. How long did it take you to compose “Brezhnev's Cocktail”? Which are the new elements that you have introduced to the band’s sound with this release?

We had a bunch of songs where we chose the ones that worked as a unit. Heh, I don’t know how long it took to compose and we basically don’t compose. We jam and see what comes out of it. The EP is a natural follow-up to "Ural Express". I think Hammond organ which weighs a ton is a new element. And the banjo, of course.

3. From all the songs that you have included in your new E.P. which one was the easiest to compose and which one the most difficult and why?

I think they all came out pretty easy. We don’t stress about the so called song writing process. We just jam and throw ideas to each other. Songs come naturally that way. It works for us.

4. Do you follow any specific method in order to create music? What things inspire you to compose songs? When do you know that a song is ready to be released?

We don’t follow any specific methods or patterns when we make songs. If you do that, it will become routine and we don’t want that to happen. Songs should be explosion of ideas from the band and when you have a specific methods, it will become boring at some point. No rules. If you think, you stink. A song is ready to be released when it’s mastered.

5. Which are the elements you are most proud of in your music and which are the things you think you need to work more on?

That is a difficult question. I think we are proud of the certain amount of "ass kickness" in our songs. We need to work on even more on it. I mean on the ass kicking.

6. Which song or songs do you think are the most ideal to represent the whole album’s essence?

Haven’t thought about that yet, really. We will work on it when the time comes.

7. Can you tell us a few things about the lyrics in your new E.P.? Which is the theme of each song that you have included in it?

Our singer Mr. Brusila writes the lyrics. They are about everyday life and how he feels about things. No fake artistic bullshit or preaching.

8. The title of your new E.P. is very interesting. How did you come up with this title and what does it mean to you?

“Brezhnev's Cocktail” is just something that came up when we were brainstorming the EP title. Brezhnev was the former president of the Soviet Union and for us Finns it just means cheap vodka and mettwurst made of horse meat. Eaten behind the iron curtain in the early 80`s.

9. You continue to release your works on your own. Why is that?

We haven’t found a suitable partner yet but hopefully that will change in the future. If it doesn’t, we will continue to sell our CDs from the trunks of our cars.

10. Will you do any video –clip for your new E.P.? If yes, which song would you choose to visualize? Would you like to do one with the band playing or one having a story?

Don’t know the song yet but if video time comes, it will include nudity, brezhnev and the band. In that particular order.

11. There are so many interviews that you do and I think you pretty much have to answer to the same boring questions. So which was the weirdest or the most interesting question that you’ve been asked so far?

We haven’t done that many interviews yet so there ain’t many stories to tell but hopefully that weird question will come at some point. Some people seem to ask questions of our Soviet Union theme. That’s ok if it’s not the KGB.

12. I will ask you to change a bit your role and become the interviewer. So what would you like to ask yourself about CONCRETE SWINE?

I don’t know because I already know all the dark secrets of our band. It’s not pretty.

13.What do you want people to think and do when they listen to CONCRETE SWINE?

Don’t think of anything because we don’t and please do buy the EP.

14. Thanks for your time answering my questions. I wish you all the best! Please close this interview in any way you like…
