ACID DEATH – Hall of Mirrors review

ACID DEATH – Hall of Mirrors

ACID DEATH is definitely one of the oldest metal bands of Greece and we’re not just talking about an ordinary band but rather about a true underground gem that has progressed and evolved a lot through the years. They didn’t remain stagnant, but they kept expanding and experimenting within the death metal genre.

So, “Hall of Mirrors”, which is by the way their fourth full length album, finds them at their best. I’ve been following the band many years, but still what I heard here really impressed me! “Hall of Mirrors” contains songs that are the quintessence of what we call technical death metal that is mixed with lots of thrash metal and has plenty of progressive references. The guys have managed to find the golden balance between their extreme self and the melodies and all this is enhanced by a solid and flawless rhythm section and by impeccable intricate guitar solos. Add to all this the vocals which do a stunning work elevating the end result and you have an album that the fans of bands like DEATH, CORONER, ATHEIST and the likes will rave about. The production is also excellent with a raw and organic sound and the artwork is really beautiful and fitting. I shouldn’t forget to mention here the guest appearances from members of TARDIVE DYSKINESIA, SUICIDAL ANGELS, ENEMY OF REALITY and FLOATING WORLDS and the multimedia section that contains two multi-camera live videos from when the band was supporting THE HAUNTED. What more can I say? No fillers on “Hall of Mirrors” just top notch technical death metal! I’m really psyched!
