BLASPHEMER – Demo of Darkness review

 BLASPHEMER – Demo of Darkness
Demo 2015
There are quite a few bands out there carrying this moniker so I should state from the beginning so as not to be any misunderstandings or confusion that this is the U.K. based band we’re dealing with. BLASPHEMER was formed in 1990 which makes them one of the first extreme metal bands out there. They belong to the first wave of death metal bands, back then when things were pure and honest, when music was straightforward. Many years have passed and we’ve seen bands alter their music, shift their focus, experiment or add innovative elements, but there are also bands like this one in particular that have remained loyal and devoted to their sound. In an oversaturated by nu metal and metalcore bands metal scene their music sounds like a breath of fresh air to my ears. It’s been quite a long time for me since the last time I came across such an interesting death metal band. “Demo of Darkness” is BLASPHEMER’s latest installment after reforming in 2014 and it showcases two killer death metal anthems, “Immortality” and “Sarcastic Ideology”. The songs are aggressive and sharp in the vein of old school death metal with a heavy and solid rhythm section, insane guitars and some great deep death metal growls. I loved it and I’d like to hear some more from them soon! What else is there for me to say? Check them out!
