ANABIOZ - There the Sun Falls Review

Ah Russia has such a huge metal scene with many quality bands, but most of them remain unknown to us. ANABIOZ are from Russia and this is their third album and my first contact with their music. I have to admit that I liked what I listened to here and I will search to listen to their previous releases, but let us take things from the beginning. ANABIOZ is a folk/pagan metal band which draws inspiration from the tradition, history and myths of their country. They use both male brutal and female melodic vocals and also combine in their music violin which plays an important part too. All these elements are of course present in many folk metal bands, but the important thing is how you combine these elements and here is where ANABIOZ do a very good job. The band has imagination and gives a fresh air to their compositions which are full of energy. They also manage to keep a good balance between the melodic and aggressive parts of their music. As for their influences I think that they must be fans of bands like AMON AMARTH, SKYCLAD and RUNNING WILD.  “There the Sun Falls” might not be something innovative in the folk metal genre, but that doesn’t reduce its quality because it can offer many good moments to the listener.
