DAN LOGOLUSO – Back from a Journey review

DAN LOGOLUSO – Back from a Journey
Independent
The journey, no matter how anyone means or understands it, is a process in human life that fills us with experiences which may either be good or bad, but if we study them they will make us a little bit wiser. Dan is a guitarist and from the research I did he has a long experience in the rock, blues and metal music and also he is a member of the progressive metal group TIMESWORD. So, he seems that he has traveled on a lot of different musical paths and this album is the gathering of his experiences from these travels.

“Back from a Journey” is an instrumental album where the electric and in a few parts the acoustic guitar play the main role. In such releases the guitarist always feels the temptation to show off his skills, but the important thing is to create compositions that can capture the attention of the listener. Dan has this ability to create compositions and use his skills and techniques (sorry I don’t know much of guitar theory to describe them) in order to give them depth and detail. Each composition included here is a musical journey that offers a variety of emotions to the listener. The playing of Dan is very emotional and incorporates elements from different musical styles that range from blues, rock, hard rock and a few Latin elements. Personally speaking, the style of Dan’s guitar playing reminded me of Steve Vai.

If you are into guitar driven instrumental albums, this one will offer you a beautiful musical journey with plenty of musical experiences.
