SUBSPEC released new EP

 

New Zealand Heavy Metal band SubSpec released their debut EP «Valhalla». The release was recorded in "Valhalla Wellington Studios", and mixed/mastered by Ascitir.

SubSpec is a (currently) one man band formed in Auckland, New Zealand in 2017. In 2020 during the first lockdown the first 4-Track demo cassette featuring a side of Originals & a side of covers was recorded at the Sub Thug Beat Lab on a tascam porta-studio 2, it was released August 2020 & features a voice introduction by Karl Sander of Nile.

Canadian Progressive/Melodic Death Metal band BORN DIVIDED released their debut album «Impending Doom». The release was recorded, mixed and mastered by Fred Bedard.

Born Divided was formed in 2020 at Quebec City, Québec by Maxim Levesque (Vocals), Fred Bédard (Guitars), Michaël Beaudoin (Guitars), Tommy Demers (Bass) and Lucas Biron (Drums).

DESECRATOR OF SANCTUARY is a one man band founded in 2021 in Ontario Canada. Inspired mainly by the work of Burzum, Aiming to create unsettling soundscapes that have a disturbing feeling of despair but drift slightly from the traditional DSBM melodic sound.

ROYAL HUNT START PRE-SALES OF THEIR NEW STUDIO ALBUM – “DYSTOPIA. PART 2”.

 

ROYAL HUNT will release their new studio album – “Dystopia. Part 2” – on October 26th via King Records (Japan/SE Asia) and on October 28th via NorthPoint Productions (EU/N & S America). The second and final part of the concept will again feature guest performers: Mats Leven (TSO, Skyblood, Vandenberg), Mark Boals (Y.J. Malmsteen, Ring of Fire, Royal Hunt), Henrik Brockman (Royal Hunt, Evil Masquerade, N´Tribe), Kenny Lubcke (Narita, Zoser Mez) and Alexandra Andersen (Royal Hunt, JSP). “Dystopia – Part 2” will be released in following formats: regular CD, various Deluxe editions/bundles and a gatefold, heavy vinyl double LP (availability date pending).

ROYAL HUNT keep expanding their trademark sound and, as the story which inspired the project - Ray Bradbury´s classic novel “Fahrenheit 451” – gets more intense towards the end, the music turns into more dynamic, heavier direction. Once again the guest singers add even more dramatic contrasts to an already cinematic yet solidly rocking soundscape.

In any case, “Dystopia – Part 2” is even more relevant today than ever: we followed the general concept yet filled it up with images of current events in order to make it resonate with every person, everybody living through 2020 to 2022 and watching insanity to unfold in real time”.

LYZZÄRD reveal cover art, tracklist & 1st song from new album!

 

Portuguese Heavy Metal band LYZZÄRD, has just revealed the cover art and 1st advance single for their 2nd album "The Abyss", which will be released on December 1st, 2022 through Fighter Records on CD and Digital formats.

LYZZÄRD emerged in 2013, releasing their first EP "Release the Hounds" in 2014. Already in 2017, they signed with Fighter Records for the release of their 1st album "Savage". After playing several shows in Portugal, Spain and Germany, the pandemic came and two changes in the line-up happened as well, to finally record their 2nd album in 2022 under the title "The Abyss" and which will again be released by Fighter Records. Currently, LYZZÄRD are stronger than ever and eager to return to the stage!!

On the first few hearings, I figured this is going to be another "recycled" Destruction album but it grew on me!  The only founding member left is Schmier as Mike departed from the band after being a founding member for 39 years.  Some of the material on here remind me of 'Release From Agony' as some riffs are similar to that title track way back then.  The album itself is somewhat brutal in the sense of thrash brutality.  It's not as hard as 'Born To Perish', but it still has its highs and lows.  I enjoyed the whole album though despite the fact that it's hit-or-miss with the songs themselves. They really haven't invented anything new.

The album that's previous to my favorite which undeniably is 'Coma Of Souls', this one packs a punch as well.  The lyrical concepts are just starting to advance with the band and the aggression in the music has illuminated.  The real talent comes out in this one.  The guitars were quite technical and voracious.  Mille's vocals is just getting their own sound that he hasn't really abdicated his whole musical career in thrash metal.  Just if the lyrics were as good as the music this would get a higher rating.  But that's not the case here.  Subsequently they get a low "A."  Fans this is no disappointment.

Concentrate on sine metal isn't as well known for the lyrical concepts as it is the music itself.  The whole underground image is clear to keep the darkness high especially here which I don't focus on.  On here, the vocals are good like previous releases.  They sound a little like Naglfar and Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir.  In any case, they are their own despite this.  The music is way on high tremolo piking and chord progressions.  There's quite a lot of tempo changes which makes it more diverse.

Talk about some crushing death metal throughout, this band never falls short in being extreme!  This is probably one of my favorites of theirs.  Fresh riffs devastating the listener.  Just all the way BRUTAL!  There are tempo changes but mostly mid-fast to fast riffs the whole way through.  A little of a clean tone guitars, but not much.  The vocals keep the music underground and it goes well alongside the instruments.  I don't mind any of this album, it's death metal to the extreme through and through.  I wouldn't want anything changed either.  The music is what captivates me ABSOLUTELY to the n-th degree!

ATHIEL was formed in 2021 at Sardinia, Italy as a one man project by Dann. The band was born to bring back the voices of darkness, and the song lyrics entirely dedicated to death, chaos and necromancy.
