Downright abrasive to the ear lobes!  What a masterpiece, I cannot say what a riff that's been played on here that was in an ill place or poorly played.  All seemed to fall into place perfectly.  Vocals are top-notch as well!  They're compliment the dark death metal that goes alongside it. The leads were immaculate, too.  I believe this was one of the last LP's that's with Frank Mullen on vocals.  I think he did a couple more until he hung it up with Suffocation.  What a tragedy, as well.  He was one of the driving forces for the band and always had been.  Well, hold on tight to these vocals here and embrace the music!

AHTOH SKALD released new album

 

Russian Folk Metal/Neoclassical musician AHTOH SKALD released his new album «Songs for my Father». The release was recorded, mixed and mastered by Dmitriy Lutskovskiy and Theodor Borovski. The new release really knows how to work with the association and imagination of the listener, giving birth to images from famous films about pirates of the Middle Ages and sea voyages, as if inviting them on a journey.

Έχοντας ήδη έναν δίσκο στην πλάτη τους, οι VIKING το 1989 κυκλοφορούν την 2η ολοκληρωμένη δισκογραφική τους δουλειά με τίτλο «Man of Straw». Ένας δίσκος που βρίσκει το συγκρότημα σαφώς πιο έμπειρο και πιο κατασταλαγμένο ως προς το τι θέλει να πετύχει μουσικά. Επίσης είναι και η κυκλοφορία που κλείνει τον πρώτο κύκλο ζωής του συγκροτήματος, αφού το 1990 διακόπτουν την όποια δραστηριότητα τους για να επανέλθουν ξανά στην δράση το 2011.

This album is my favorite out of all I've heard from Devourment!  The music is what steals the listener.  And the vocals are so darn brutal, about the same as ever.  The riff-writing is fantastic with licks palm muted as ever before!  The music isn't too fast though they change it up somewhat!  The tremolo picking with the riffs are substantial.  Tempos are varying widely with the vocals not drowning out the guitars.  I definitely thought that this is their most original sounding album to-date!  These guys don't mess around and it's like this the whole way through the entire album: BRUTAL AS F***. 

REAP THE LIGHT released debut album

 

American Groove/Heavy Metal band REAP THE LIGHT released their debut album «Deliver Hell». The release was recorded at "Haxan Studios" in Edomex, Mexico, and mixed/mastered by Orion Hellraiser.

REAP THE LIGHT was formed in November of 2020 in the United States by Reverend Kuzz (bass) and Orion Hellraiser (guitars/drums). These days the band is constantly working on new music and are planning their next album, which is a concept album about the 7 Deadly Sins.

One word: BRUTAL!  This album is unrelenting death metal.  I'm not sure what I like more 'Whisper Supremacy' or this one.  It's a close call really.  I think that both are pretty solid, if not substantial!  The music is just all out fast and furious.  The album could've been a bit longer but oh well.  Lord Worm's vocals are wholly guttural.  It makes the album sound heavier than it already is!  The music on here is pretty up-tempo the whole way through.  And the lead guitar work is solid.  I think the rhythms are anything but catastrophic.  They just know how to make effective death metal.  And technical at that.

Ταραχώδης ο βίος των CRYSTAL WINDS ή αν αυτό σας φαίνεται κάπως βαρύγδουπο, τότε θα πω με πολλά σκαμπανεβάσματα. Κι αυτό είναι κάτι που προκύπτει από την ίδια την διαδρομή τους ως συγκρότημα όλα αυτά τα χρόνια. Συνοπτικά θα σας αναφέρω ότι η μπάντα δημιουργήθηκε το 1999 και το 2004 κυκλοφόρησε το demo της με τίτλο «Scepters of Eternity». Την δεύτερη και πλέον επίσημη κυκλοφορία της θα την συναντήσουμε 12 χρόνια μετά, δηλαδή το 2016 και είναι το EP που ως τίτλο φέρει το όνομα της μπάντας. Τώρα, εν έτη 2021 δηλώνουν ξανά παρόν και κυκλοφορούν το ντεμπούτο τους που φέρνει τον τίτλο «Return to the Dark Age». Έναν αρκετά επίκαιρο τίτλο θα έλεγα, αν σκεφτείς ότι η όλη κατάσταση με την «πανδημία» θυμίζει μεσαίωνα που απλά ο θρησκευτικός δογματισμός έχει αντικατασταθεί από τον και καλά επιστημονικό λόγο. Τέλος πάντων, θα κλείσω την εισαγωγή μου λέγοντας ότι οι CRYSTAL WINDS αποδεικνύουν ότι είναι μαχητές και δεν το βάζουν εύκολα κάτω και κάπως έτσι κατάφεραν να δουν τον πρώτο ολοκληρωμένο δίσκο τους να κυκλοφορεί.

Έχοντας παρουσιάσει το 2010 κι αποκτήσει το ντεμπούτο δίσκο του συγκροτήματος με τίτλο «Cast In Iron» από καιρό σε καιρό σκεφτόμουν που χάθηκαν αυτά τα παιδιά. Εκεί, λοιπόν, που είχα αρχίσει να πιστεύω ότι είναι ένα ακόμη από τα πολλά συγκροτήματα της heavy metal μουσικής που έβγαλαν έναν δίσκο κι εξαφανίστηκαν, σκάει η είδηση ότι έχουν έτοιμη την δεύτερη κυκλοφορία τους με τίτλο «Crimson Messiah». Φυσικά έσπευσα να την αποκτήσω, να την ακούσω και να μοιραστώ τις εντυπώσεις μου μαζί σας.

What a powerful performance on all fronts!  Long live Alexi Laiho!  Just getting to reviewing this now, and wow, what a series of positive melodic death/power metal!  The music on here is epic, I like it a little bit more than 'Hate Crew Deathroll', well...maybe.  I think the compositions on here are sublime.  They really did the listener good with this recording!  The riffs, synthesizers, vocals, drums and production quality is more than adequate!  The tear your speakers apart!  Alexi was great on here rhythm and lead guitars.  I think that this is the most thought out COB release ever.  They tended to go downhill after this.

Από το όνομα του συγκροτήματος γίνεται εμφανές ότι έχουν μια αδυναμία για την αρχαία Ελληνική μυθολογία που θα μου επιτρέψετε να πω ότι είναι η καλύτερη και πιο ευφάνταστη παγκοσμίως χωρίς καμιά διάθεση εθνικιστική από πλευράς μου. Την δεν αγάπη τους αυτή την επιβεβαιώνει και το επικό εξώφυλλο όπου αναπαριστά την μάχη μεταξύ του Μινώταυρου και μιας αμαζόνας.

Συνήθως όταν γίνεται αναφορά σε γυναικείο metal συγκρότημα ο νους μας πηγαίνει στο συμφωνικό είδος. Βέβαια, αυτό είναι μια τάση που επικράτησε από τα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 90 και μετά, διότι στη δεκαετία του 80 οι γυναίκες είχαν μια αξιοσέβαστη παρουσία σε διάφορα είδη της μουσικής μας. Θέλοντας, λοιπόν, οι κυρίες που απαρτίζουν το εν λόγω συγκρότημα να διαφοροποιηθούν από την κυρίαρχη τάση του συμφωνικού ήχου δημιούργησαν ένα είδος μουσικής που εντάσσεται σε αυτό που λέμε alternative metal.

This is probably the best Liquid Graveyard release that I've heard.  I believe Shane from Napalm Death was still with the band (now departed).  I've never heard of the genre they fall under, but it's a pretty cool type of genre.  I like the music, though the vocals I'm not too used to right now.  I can dig the music the most.  This release is under an hour and it really packs a punch.  The songwriting was impeccable.  It's a little groove laden metal with the Avant-guard twist to it.  This is actually one of the first ones I've heard from the band themselves.  And what a treat to the eardrums!  I liked it immensely!

Λίγο πολύ όλοι έχουμε εξοικειωθεί με εκφράσεις του στυλ «είδα τον Χριστό φαντάρο». Ε, λοιπόν, κάτι τέτοιο πρέπει να συμβαίνει και με το συγκεκριμένο συγκρότημα. Μόνο που αυτοί είδαν τον Ιησού επιβαίνων σε μηχανοκίνητο όχημα. Τώρα αν το όχημα αυτό είναι αυτοκίνητο ή μοτοσικλέτα, το αφήνουν στην δική μας φαντασία. Σε κάθε περίπτωση το όνομα του συγκροτήματος δεν αφήνει πολλά περιθώρια παρερμηνείας για το τι ακριβώς θέλουν να επιτύχουν με την μουσική τους.

Η πρώτη κυκλοφορία των THE THREE TREMORS με τίτλο «The Three Tremors» είχε ένα πιο εύκολο έργο σε σχέση με την παρούσα δουλειά. Είχε το στοιχείο του εντυπωσιασμού, διότι 3 σπουδαίες φωνές της heavy metal μουσικής, ήτοι ο Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck, ο Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin και ο Tim "Ripper" Owens ένωσαν τις δυνάμεις τους. Στο δεύτερο, όμως, δίσκο πρέπει να αποδείξουν αν το συγκεκριμένο project μπορεί να εξελιχθεί σε κάτι ακόμη πιο ουσιαστικό, δηλαδή σε ένα κανονικό συγκρότημα.
