STAIRS OF LIFE – The Man in a Glass Review

STAIRS OF LIFE – The Man in a Glass

Sliptrick Records

Well, STAIRS OF LIFE is not my cup of tea considering my music preferences and knowledge. I am more into the heavy metal and 70’s hard rock sound and my knowledge of rock and especially alternative rock is very limited and for this reason I ask for your understanding.

MONUMENT – Hellhound Review

MONUMENT – Hellhound

Rock Of Angels Records

There are so many bands in our days that are influenced or even reproduce the sound of the N.W.O.B.H.M. movement, but only few come from the country where this sound was invented. However, quality does not hide in quantity, but vice versa and it seems that MONUMENT from London, England are very ambitious and interesting representatives of that sound.

SNAKEYES – Metal Monster Review

SNAKEYES – Metal Monster

Independent

SNAKEYES are a Spanish band with a Romanian singer. I do like these collaborations because they prove that metal is above all colors and nationalities and most of all because such collaborations usually give us good albums to listen to. SNAKEYES have already impressed me with their 2015 debut album entitled “Ultimate Sin” and so when I saw that they had released their sophomore album entitled “Metal Monster” I was really intrigued to listen to their new work.

MILLENNIUM – Awakening Review

MILLENNIUM – Awakening

Independent

MILLENNIUM is a band formed in 1982 in Birmingham, United Kingdom and they were part of the N.W.O.B.H.M. metal movement that has affected so drastically our sound. As many bands of that era MILLENNIUM managed to release in 1983 their debut album under the same name; after that they released some demos and called it a day in the late 80’s. The band members, though, thought that they have more to give with this band and I think that the new interest that the new bands show in the N.W.O.B.H.M. sound motivated them to come back and in 2016 to release their sophomore album entitled “Caught in a Warzone”. “Awakening” is the successor of that release and let me tell you a few things about it.

HYPERION – Dangerous Days Reviews

HYPERION – Dangerous Days

Independent

Well, this is not the first Italian band under the name HYPERION that I have the chance to listen to, but it is definitely better. Actually when I received the CD I thought that they were the reunion of the Italian power metal band HYPERION that in 1999 released their one and as it seems only album entitled “Where Stone Is Unscarred” through Massacre Records. The logo, though, and mainly the music made me realize that I had to do with a totally different band.

KINGS WILL FALL – Thrash Force. One Review

KINGS WILL FALL – Thrash Force. One

Independent

Yes, we all know that Italy has a very interesting power metal scene and if you are not convinced, just check out the previous releases that I reviewed and I mean ALTAIR and KALEDON. With KINGS WILL FALL, though, we enter into more aggressive fields, although their name might make you think that we deal with an epic metal band. The title of their debut album can’t be more straight forward and into the point.

THE DANGER – The Danger Review

THE DANGER – The Danger

Independent

It is true and I am amongst those whose first contact with the Italian metal scene was with bands like RHAPSODY and DOMINE which moved into more epic and symphonic metal paths. Actually many people believed that these are the only bands that Italy gives to the metal scene. However, for me and due to some friends these bands made me search deeper into the Italian metal scene and I was more than happy to discover that Italy had a good metal scene even from the 80’s and because of lack of promotion they never became so known like other metal scenes. One of these very good 80’s metal bands were VANEXA which I propose you should check out especially if you like the N.W.O.B.H.M. sound. Now, I imagine some eyebrows rising and think what all these have to do with this band? Well the answer is the legendary singer of VANEXA from the 80’s Mr. Marco Spinelli. So enough said about the past, let’s talk about the present and this release…
